Roller blinds are commonly seen in offices and only recently, a growing demand among household units. A roller blind is a window shade that rolls up out of the way and is just a slight variation compared to its counterparts, such as curtains, weave blinds and venetian blinds. They all serve the same purpose but they may vary in the degree of the ability to block out sunlight, dust and noise, cost price and durability.
Roller blinds are simple yet functional, classy, and they are sold in various designs and patterns to suit the various themes or styles that the user may have for a particular room. Plus, they are affordable as well. They also come in a motorized form and they are so versatile such that they may be placed in any room and even outdoors as well if need be.
Roller blinds do an excellent job in blocking sunlight however it does a terrible job at filtering different levels of sunlight. Due to its nature of being a one piece fabric, it is hard to have the same degree of control as the venetian blinds which one is able to adjust till the optimal amount of natural sunlight enters the room. One is only able to buy the roller blind with the suitable thickness of the fabric to match the requirements of the room. Thus, it is most suited for people who want either no or minimal natural sunlight in the room. Some of the more expensive roller blinds are able to block out dust and noise as well.
Also, roller blinds are durable as they are mostly made up of a hard and sturdy fabric which is able to withstand wear and tear over long periods of time. They are also simple to install and remove, and easy to clean as well.
To install the blind, firstly, determine the mounting method, whether it is an inside mount or an outside mount. Next, depending on the mounting method, one may be required to drill holes onto the window frame and mount the mount brackets, ensuring that they align with each other on both ends. After having done so, attach the roller shade to the mount bracket. There are two kinds of roller shades, one is a spring roller and the other is a continuous loop. Depending on the type of roller shade, there may are different instructions for installation. Most if not all roller blinds come with an installation manual and they are easy to follow.
Roller blinds are easy to clean and maintain as well. Periodic vacuuming with a brush attachment is all that is required. One may wipe it with a damp cloth to clean off dust or even remove it completely to wash if one wishes to do so.
Roller blinds may not be the most sophisticated shade or the most aesthetically pleasing to the eye but it is simple, functional and they give a touch of class to the room. Ultimately, it is still up to the users’ discretion in deciding to use roller blinds to suit the décor or style of the room and to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of the roller blinds.
