Here at Singapore Blinds, we offer many alternatives to increase privacy, block light, and improve your interior appearance. Of course, we are talking about curtains, a topic which most people should be familiar with. What you may not know, however, is that there are three main types available: day, night and blackout. It is important to know the difference so that you can purchase the correct window shades and covers for a more improved household.
Beautifying Your Windows
Made from polyester, day curtains are lightweight and translucent. They are mainly used to enhance your windows’ beauty, and contrast with any darker designs you may also have hanging. Generally, Singapore homes have both a day and a night design to control light flow and enhance the interiors. With day models, the polyester is maintenance-free too, as it simply needs to be placed in a washing machine to get rid of dust, spots and stains.
Blocking the Light
Of course, you may be looking for something to stop unwanted brightness from entering your home. Night blinds and blackout curtains in Singapore are used for this purpose. The former is more common however. This polyester window cover improves privacy and blocks 40% of the light. As such, they are not suitable for those requiring a completely dark environment in which to sleep. Made from polyester, they can be easily cleaned in a washing machine.
Added Privacy in the Home
The third option available is blackout curtains. These are made with dual layers, one of polyester and another of nylon. These models can completely stop light from entering a room. It is necessary to add up to six inches of width on the left and right of the window as this ensures that all light is kept out. These models are high maintenance though, as they require dry cleaning to prevent damage to the fabric.
